1. How many firefighters are employed by the Davidson Fire Department?

The Davidson Fire Department employs approximately 60 part-time and 30 full-time firefighters that staff six positions around the clock.

The Davidson Fire Department responds to approximately 1,500 calls each year. This averages approximately four calls per day. As the Town of Davidson continues to grow, our call and response volumes also continue to increase.

3. Why might I see fire trucks parked in lots around town (not during an emergency)?

Crew members are on duty for 24 hours at a time, and we need to eat! We all eat out together for breakfast, lunch and dinner to maintain crew integrity; if one person goes, we all go. Taking the truck with us ensures that if we get a call, we are ready to respond from that location, rather than needing to stop by the station to pick up the additional members of the on-duty crew.
