Economic Development

Davidson’s Economic Development Department is responsible for the economic, social, and sustainable well-being of the town’s business and private sectors. We seek to support our business community through grants, developmental programming, and marketing support. We are committed to preserving the small town appeal of Davidson by presenting community events and supporting historic preservation with economic development to keep our business districts prosperous and vital.

Contact Economic Development Manager Kim Fleming for more information and with any questions.

Department Overview
The Town of Davidson is responsible for producing four signature events a year: April is for Arts, Town Day, Concerts on the Green, and Christmas in Davidson. These events highlight Davidson’s core tourism focus of education, art, eco-tourism, and healthy living. These signature events bring visitors to our town and increase the economic viability of our businesses.

In 2012, the town completed an Economic Development Strategic Plan (PDF). This plan is the framework for economic development activity. A copy of the plan can be accessed here. A detailed matrix shows our work plan for the next five years. Quarterly reports highlighting occupancy rates, jobs per capita, and visitor spending are posted on our website to show our progress toward these goals.
