Join children all over the country by walking to school on Wednesday, October 5. For more information contact your school to see how they are involved.  

Wellness Wednesday

Join us on the first and third Wednesdays of October and November as we learn to be healthier from the inside out! Strengthen your capacity to make wise investments in your well-being. Explore tools and strategies to create your personalized wellness plan. Join us for one or more sessions or joins us for all. Julie Alexander, founder of Core Health Partners, will lead the sessions.

Maximizing Your Social Security

Learn the strategies and the logistics needed to claim your Social Security and how to receive your maximum benefit amount based on your needs. David Hedges of Bookman Bright Consulting will include an interactive workbook as well as a customized Social Security claiming report. Couples rate is per household. Sandwiches and light refreshments will be provided.

Afterschool Drum Club

Besides being FUN, group drumming enhances listening, social skills, and has numerous health benefits. Participants are free to bring their own percussion instruments, but percussion instruments of various types will be provided. Led by Julie Alexander of Core Health Partner. DES pick-up option: A Davidson Parks and Recreation (DPR) staff member will pick up students who attend Davidson Elementary and walk them to this program.

Afterschool Bike Clinic - CMS Early Release Day

Ready, set, ride! To make cycling safer and more fun, local experts will be on-hand to educate young riders. Children, ages 5-12, can bring a bike and helmet to participate in training stations where they learn about and practice safe bicycling skills. This program is offered in partnership with the NC Active Routes to School program, Mecklenburg County Safe Routes to School, and the Town of Davidson Police Department. Grade K-5.
