Election Day 2016 will take place on November 8, 2016. While no Davidson elected officials are up for re-election, there are several important elections at both the state and national levels.
To vote as a resident of North Carolina, you must be a registered North Carolina voter. The voter registration application from can be found here. Print out the application and send it to the Mecklenburg County Board of Elections (PO Box 31788 Charlotte, NC 28231). The deadline for registering to vote in the 2016 Election is October 14 at 5:00 p.m.
Once registered, you may vote using three different methods:
Vote in-person on Election Day. Polls will be open on November 8 from 6:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. The Town of Davidson has two polling locations: Davidson Town Hall (216 S. Main Street) and Hopewell Baptist Church (18841 Davidson-Concord Road). To view your polling location, please visit https://vt.ncsbe.gov/Voter_Search_Public/. Polling locations are also listed on voter cards.
Vote early. Any registered voter may vote before Election Day at select polling locations and times. The early voting period runs from Thursday, October 20 to Saturday, November 5. Visit http://er.ncsbe.gov/ to view dates, times, and locations for early voting in Mecklenburg County.
Apply for an absentee ballot. The deadline for submitting an application for a North Carolina absentee ballot is 5:00 p.m. on the Tuesday before Election Day (in 2016, the deadline is 5:00 p.m. on November 1). Absentee ballots must be postmarked by 5:00 p.m. on Election Day. Absentee ballot request forms can be found here.
While most voters are not required to provide photo ID at polling locations, Mecklenburg County strongly recommends all voters carry photo IDs just in case.
