West Davidson Stakeholder Committee

Construction activity and overall community changes have affected quality of life in West Davidson in the following ways:
  • Property value and taxation increases in the area are making it more difficult to maintain affordable housing.
  • Job scarcity has forced many to commute to other towns.
  • Lack of road or pedestrian connectivity across the railroad tracks and between neighborhoods present barriers.
  • Communications between the town government and the African American community have been weakened by historic racial tensions.

To respond to these issues and research additional concerns, a series of public information sessions were organized in early 2006 where the Town of Davidson announced the formation of a West Davidson Stakeholder Committee.

Committee Goals
This committee was organized to work with planning staff to understand barriers in order to achieve:
  • Effective communications
  • Improved quality of life
  • Well-integrated development
